FR / PFAS: gradual ban on wastewater discharges from industrial facilities by 2030 (Journal officiel)

The national trajectory for the gradual reduction of wastewater discharges of PFAS substances from industrial installations is, by reference to estimated or measured emissions in 2023 :
• a 70% reduction by 27/02/2028;
• tending towards the end of discharges by 27/02/2030, according to a decree by the Prime Minister, on the report of the Minister for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, Forestry, the Sea and Fisheries, dated 08/09/2025 and published in the Journal officiel of 09/09/2025.

The law of 27/02/2025, designed to protect the public from the risks associated with PFAS, set out France's intention to move towards the end of industrial discharges of these substances by five years after its promulgation, i.e. by 27/02/2030. It called for a decree to establish a national trajectory for the gradual reduction of industrial aqueous discharges.

The PFAS concerned by this national trajectory for gradual reduction are any substance containing at least one fully fluorinated methyl (CF3-) or methylene (-CF2-) carbon atom, with no hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or iodine atoms attached. The…
