EDF: contract with Elements Green to support BESS project in Slaythorpe (UK)

"EDF UK and Elements Green signed a long-term arrangement to support the delivery of the 360MW/720MWh Slaythorpe BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), now under early-stage construction in Nottinghamshire (England)", both companies declare on 08/09/2025.

Elements Green is a solar and energy storage developer. This project aims to be one of the largest battery storage projects in the UK, powering over 95.000 homes for a full day. It is expected to begin its operation in 2027.

The deal plans that EDF guarantees a minimum level of income from grid balancing and a 15-year capacity market contract. On an infrastructure level, the battery will function through EDF's Powershift platform. Elements Green has concluded a debt facility of over €161 M (£140 M) recently with Goldman Sachs Alternatives for this Slaythorpe BESS.
