"Short-term economic challenges must not overshadow the sustainable benefits of the transitions. The success of thes transitions presupposes a fair distribution of efforts and costs", stated Axa Climate on 02/09/2025, on the occasion of the publication of its study on the agricultural transition, entitled "Clés de la réusssite et leviers pour contrôler les risques économiques de la transition".

In some cases, the agro-ecological transition can improve profitability, while in others it generates additional costs or increases exposure to risk, according to the study. "In reality, there are as many transition paths as there are combinations of soils, climates, crops and practices", says Axa Climate.

Based on a detailed analysis of satellite, climatic and economic data, the study models several agroecological scenarios up to 2050 and highlights six use cases accompanied by concrete solutions for reducing the economic risk associated with the agricultural transition.
