"MAIF Forêts has deployed €100 M in partnership with France Valley in less than three years. We own around twenty forestry assets, 80% in France and 20% in Europe, totalling just over 5.700 hectares. Forests are a strategic asset in which we must be present, because we have a role to play in improving practices", explains Philippe Laffitte, Head of real asset management at MAIF.

"This is the case, for example, in the forest on the island of Hiiumaa in Estonia, where the NGOs Fern and Canopée have accused us of unsustainable management. MAIF wants to change the most widespread practices in a country where clear-cuts are practised on a massive scale. Since we acquired this forest, clear-cuts have been reduced by 95% compared to what was previously planned. This proportion puts us completely at ease with the situation and with the concerns of these NGOs, with whom we work very closely", explains Carole Zacchéo, Director of investments for the MAIF Group.
