INRAE (FR): Anne Varet appointed Scientific Director for Environment and Forestry

Anne Varet has been appointed Scientific Director for Environment and Forestry at the French public research institute Inrae (Institut National de la Recherche pour l'Agriculture, l'Alimentation et l'Environnement), for a four-year term, the institute announced on 01/09/2025. She succeeds Thierry Caquet, who has held this position since 2017 and became Inrae's International Vice-President in January 2025. Alban Thomas, Deputy Scientific Director for the Environment, has been acting as interim head of the Environment and Forestry Division. Anne Varet joins the Institute's management board at the suggestion of Philippe Mauguin, President and CEO of Inrae.

As part of Inrae's 2030 scientific strategy, Anne Varet coordinates the Institute's scientific and partnership activities relating to the environment, while ensuring that these activities also contribute to strengthening the resilience of territories to climate change and the risks associated with global change.
