Offshore wind: $679 million in financing for projects in the United States cancelled or withdrawn

$679 M (€579 m) : this is the amount of funding initially earmarked for 12 offshore wind projects in the United States that have been withdrawn or cancelled because they are not "aligned with the Administration's goals and priorities", announced Sean P. Duffy, US Secretary of Transportation, on 29/08/2025.

The projects in question are described as "doomed". "Wasteful wind projects use resources that could otherwise be used to revitalise the US marine industry," says Sean P. Duffy. The Trump administration has refocused the Department of Transportation (USDOT) and its Maritime Administration (MARAD) on "rebuilding America's naval capacity, deploying more reliable and traditional forms of energy, and harnessing the nation's abundant natural resources to unleash American energy".

Where possible, the withdrawn funds are being reallocated to calls for projects such as port infrastructure upgrades.
