BioMethaneMix, BlendUp30 and HyGrid100: three green gas pilot projects are simultaneously launched by Delgaz Grid in Romania, announced the E.ON Group subsidiary on 23/07/2025.

" Our pilot projects are essential for the future of the gas industry in Romania. We are testing the compatibility and proper functioning of the elements of the natural gas distribution system (network and user facilities) with natural gas mixtures and different concentrations of hydrogen, in order to prepare the networks for the energy transition by converting existing networks into hydrogen-compatible networks, and by building, in the future, networks exclusively compatible with hydrogen," says Cristian Secoșan, Managing Director of Delgaz Grid.

The BioMethaneMix project aims to obtain biomethane via the production of biogas produced at wastewater treatment plants/industrial platforms, to technically validate the process stages and to inject the biomethane into the natural gas network. Tests to mix biomethane and natural gas will be carried out "for at least six months". Implementation is expected in 2026…
