"EU and China committed to enhance bilateral cooperation on their green transition" (Council)

"The EU and China are committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation in energy transition, adaptation, methane emissions management and control, carbon markets and green and low-carbon technologies to drive their respective green and low-carbon transition processes together", declared the two parties in a joint press statement on 24/07/2025.

Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Kaja Kallas, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, were in Beijing (China) for the 25^th EU-China summit, to meet with Xi Jinping, Chinese President and Li Qiang, Premier of China.

Following the summit, they released a joint statement focused on climate, committing to cooperate particularly on carbon markets, emissions management and low-carbon technologies and to submit their NDCs before COP30 that will take place in Bélem (Brazil) from 10 to 21/11/2025.
