European Commission: call for feedback on further simplification of environmental policies

The Commission opened a call for evidence - Have your Say- on 22/07/2025 on how to simplify environmental legislation, by cutting red tape while upholding and better achieving the EU’s environmental objectives of this legislation.

The upcoming environmental omnibus proposal will present measures to simplify legislation relating to the circular economy, industrial emissions, and waste management. This proposal builds on the extensive stakeholder engagement that took place previously. The purpose of today's call for evidence is to identify other EU environmental policies that could be simplified for businesses without compromising the EU’s environmental objectives or the protection of human health. The Commission’s work programme for 2025 sets out to cut administrative burden by at least 25% for all companies and by at least 35% for SMEs.
