Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage : acquisition of a 49,99% stake of Eni CCUS by GIP (BlackRock)

BlackRock, through its Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) branch, acquires 49,99% of stakes of Eni's carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS), it announced on 18/08/2025.

"According to the final agreement under negotiation, besides the initial acquisition of a 49.99% stake in Eni CCUS Holding, GIP will support investments in the CCUS projects", declares Eni.

Eni CCUS Holding includes shares in three major European projects: HyNet North West and Bacton Thames NetZero in the UK, and L10CCS in the Netherlands, aiming to store 25 million tonnes of CO2 each year altogether. A future project in Ravenna (Italy) could add 4 million additional tonnes per year.

"Additional prospects could be added to build a wide platform of CCUS projects", announced Eni. Eni also sold a 20% stake of Plenitude, its renewable energy production and charging solutions for electric mobility, for € 2B to Ares Management Alternative Credit Funds on 23/06/2025.
