22% of global wetlands lost since 1970, call for investment in NBS (Global Wetland Outlook, Ramsar)

"Valuing, conserving, restoring and financing wetlands is no longer optional, it is essential to securing the foundations of life on Earth", call the authors of the 2025 Global Wetland Outlook, released on 15/07/2025 at the United Nations Office in Nairobi (Kenya).

The 2025 edition of the report highlights the threats weighing on wetlands and calls for action to finance their conservation and achieve the global commitments towards their protection.

"Wetlands urgently need to be recognised as valuable natural resources crucial for ensuring water and food security, climate stability, biodiversity and community resilience.
