EU/Multiannual Financial Framework: €700B dedicated to the Clean Transition

€700Bn dedicated to the Clean Transition, amounting to 35% of the global 2028-2035 MFF (€1980 Bn, of which €165Bn will be affected to post-Covid reimbursements) : investments in decarbonisation, digital transition, bioeconomy, defence and space rank second in the next MFF, shortly after the Regional and National Partnership Plans, first pillar of this MFF, designed to provide more flexibility to both the Union and Member States.

Since the LIFE programme, dedicated to climate and environment, comes to an end at the end of the current MFF, most of the global envelop dedicated to Clean Transition will be carried by the new European Competitiveness Fund, worth €410 Bn, that will invest in strategic technologies, to benefit the entire Single Market, as recommended in the Letta and Draghi reports. That Fund will focus its support on four areas :

•clean transition and decarbonization;
•digital transition;
•health, biotech, agriculture and bioeconomy;
•defence, and space.
