World Bank: $134 M to develop green hydrogen production in Brazil

$134 M (€114.7 M): this is the financement granted by the World Bank to Companhia de Desenvolvimento do Complexo Industrial e Portuário do Pecém (Pecém Industrial and Port Complex Company - CIPP) for the production of clean hydrogen and by-products on 09/07/2025.

Pecém - CIPP is a major industrial and logistics hub in Brazil's north-eastern Ceará region. "It is strategically positioned to foster the energy transition, with the support of the State and the Federal Government", says the World Bank.

'We are making concrete progress in consolidating the green hydrogen cluster, which establishes Brazil as a leader in the global energy transition. This initiative is strengthening our infrastructure, attracting investment, and creating real opportunities for the people of Ceará,' said Max Quintino, president of the Pecém complex.

$90m (€77m) of the global invested amount are IBRD loans, and $33.5m (€28.7m) are a loan from the Climate Investment Fund as part of the renewable energy integration programme.
