"We're calling for a surge in climate action" (Jean-François Soussana, Haut conseil pour le climat)

"The decarbonisation pace slowed sharply in 2024, which jeopardises our capacity to achieve climate targets. The framework for public action is lagging far behind. Adaptation efforts, although institutionalised, remain insufficient in the face of vulnerabilities. We are calling for a reinforcement of climate action , with a solid governance, a clear pathway for 2030 and beyond, and structural reinforcement of public policies", declared Jean-François Soussana, Chairman of the Haut conseil pour le climat (HCC), in front of the French Senate's Commission de l'Urbanisme et du Développement Durable (Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development) on 09/07/2025.

He was accompanied by Valérie Masson-Delmotte and Benoît Leguet, members of the HCC, at the presentation of the annual report published on 03/07/2025.
