Hydrogen / McPhy: John Cockerill's bid for part of the assets accepted by the courts

The Tribunal du Commerce de Belfort (Territoire de Belfort) has accepted John Cockerill Hydrogen's offer to take over part of McPhy's assets, the Belgian company announced on 08/07/2025.

McPhy Energy went into receivership on 04/06/2025, following a judiciary decision in april 2025, motivated by the company's financial situation. John Cockerill Hydrogen offered to acquire the company's key assets, including 51 jobs in France (70% of the workforce), the Belfort site (Territoire de Belfort), technologies and intellectual property. McPhy currently employs 71 people, including 60 in Belfort and Grenoble (Isère).

"This targeted takeover saves a strategic industrial tool and lays the foundations for new-generation electrolysers. By combining John Cockerill's cells with some of McPhy's innovative components, we are aiming to improve competitiveness by 10 to 15% compared with current models.
