Great British Energy: Dan McGrail appointed permanent CEO

Dan McGrail has been appointed permanent Chief Executive Officer of Great British Energy, the UK Government announced on 08/07/2025. He had acted as interim CEO since March 2025.

Prior to this, Dan Mc Grail had served as CEO of Renewable UK since May 2021, and was a board member of Wind Europe.

" Dan McGrail has been a visionary leader as interim CEO of Great British Energy, and he will bring his private sector experience to our public clean energy company," says Ed Miliband, UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Great British Energy is a UK public investment company initiated on 25/07/2024. It aims to:
• Develop clean energy projects creating value for Britain
• Invest in clean energy projects alongside the private sector
• Support local energy projects by working with local authorities
• Build supply chains in the UK to improve the country's energy independence and create skilled jobs
• Work with Great British Nuclear, a body that supports the UK nuclear industry

The company is to contribute to the UK Government's 'Great Green Energy Plan'.
