"It's not a good thing to say that we're not going to do any more renewable energies in our country, that we're not going to invest any more. We need to do both nuclear and renewable and not caricature everything. We need to get away from whims", declared Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic on 03/07/2025 in reaction to an article published on 02/07/2025 by Bruno Retailleau, President of the LR party and French Minister of the Interior (Home Secretary).

Bruno Retailleau, in an article published in Le Figaro with two leaders of the LR party, calls for an end to public subsidies for wind power and photovoltaic energy. "When our country finances the construction of renewable energies, it uses French taxpayers' money to subsidise our neighbours' electricity consumption, while imposing intermittent production on our grid that destabilises our installed capacity.
