"Banning sales of internal combustion vehicles in 2035 is a mistake that downplays several issues: the ability of European, and even French, industry to meet demand, dependence on China, and the boom in renewable energies", Julien Aubert, vice-president of Les Républicains party and former MP for the Vaucluse département (2012-2022), told News Tank on 03/07/2025.

Julien Aubert, Bruno Retailleau, president of Les Républicains, and François-Xavier Bellamy, vice-president of the party, have published an opinion piece in Le Figaro calling for "the energy mix proposed by Ségolène Royal to introduce a substitution between renewable and nuclear energies to be combated", and for public subsidies for wind power and photovoltaic energy to be stopped.
