Decarbonisation: agroforestry and livestock reduction seen as "priority" actions (HCSP / France)

"The ratio between abatement costs and the value [of climate action] must be handled with precaution, but it enables to identify many actions that are already seen as profitable for the community, such as agroforestry", according to a flash note from the HSCP (Haut-commissariat à la Stratégie et au Plan), written by Nicolas Riedinger, Patrick Criqui and Alain Quinet, published on 02/07/2025.

The SNBC 3 (French Low Carbon National Strategy), which will be officially adopted by the end of 2025, must include, in accordance with the French Environment Code, a trajectory for the carbon price. To stay in line with the objective of limiting the rise in temperature to 1.5°C by 2030, the commission on climate action valorisation raises the initial level of the value of climate action to €256/tCO2e in 2025.
