The trilogue scheduled for 30/06/2025 on NGTs was cancelled on 27/06/2025 at the request of Jessica Polfjärd (EPP, Sweden), rapporteur for the European Parliament's ENVI Committee, due to the absence of a compromise between the Council, the Commission, and the European Parliament on the other.
"On 26/06, we had a meeting of the European Parliament rapporteurs and we noted that, on many points, the positions and starting points of the Commission and the Council on the one hand, and the Parliament on the other, are different. Poland, at the start of its Presidency of the Council, held a position close to that of the Parliament, which they had to abandon because they were in minority among the Member States. They did little to explore other issues such as traceability or categorisation, which partly explains the current deadlock. But I have every confidence in the Danish Presidency to continue these negotiations, even if no further timetable has yet been set", Christophe Clergeau, MEP (S&D, France) and shadow rapporteur on the ENVI Committee on NGTs, told News Tank on 30/06/2025.
