European Commission / JRC : breaking ground for the first New European Bauhaus building in Seville

With its net-positive emissions thanks to a large surface of solar panels and its reengineered traditional architecture, the new JRC (Joint Research Center) building in Sevilla (Spain), will be the first building fully embodying the New European Bauhaus principles : its construction has been launched by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, who attended the opening ceremony, on 30/06/2025, together with Ekaterina Zaharieva, Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation, and Jessika Roswall, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy.
