CISAF: "Ending the European nuclear taboo" (Marc Ferracci, French minister for Energy and Industry)

"This is the end of a European nuclear taboo that has lasted for more than ten years", declared Marc Ferracci, the French Minister for Industry and Energy, on 26/06/2025. He was reacting to the adoption of the CISAF (Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework) by the European Commission on 24/06/2025, which defines the conditions under which Member States can grant aid for certain investments and objectives.

This text provides for a "fast-track procedure" for the deployment of clean energies (renewable energies and low-carbon fuels). "The principle of technological neutrality is fully integrated. Thanks to this new framework, the nuclear value chain and nuclear power plants will be entitled to receive the same support as wind turbine and solar panel plants. Similarly, low-carbon hydrogen has finally been recognised", says the Minister's office.
