EU/CISAF: New framework to simplify State aids towards Clean Industrial Deal adopted

Enabling Member States to promote the development of clean energy, the decarbonisation of industry and clean technologies : this is the purpose of CISAF, the new State aids framework adopted by the European Commission on 24/06/2025. It defines the conditions under which Member States can funnel money into certain investments and objectives.

It simplifies the rules on State aids in five main areas:
• deployment of renewable energies and low-carbon fuels;
• temporary reduction of electricity prices in favour of large energy consumers to ensure the transition to low-cost clean electricity;
• decarbonisation of existing production facilities;
• development of clean technology production capacity in the EU;
• de-risking investments in clean energy, decarbonisation, clean technologies, energy infrastructure projects and projects supporting the circular economy.
