Engie: contract for the decarbonisation of 22 Airbus industrial sites in Europe

Airbus has selected Engie to support the decarbonisation of 22 industrial sites in France, Germany and Spain, the energy company announced on 20/06/2025. The framework contract was signed during the International Paris Air Show, which was held at Le Bourget (Seine-Saint-Denis / France) from 16 to 22/06/2025. The project was selected following a call for tenders.

Engie plans to decarbonise heat production of these sites with heat pumps and biomass boilers, improve their energy efficiency, develop local renewable energy production and install intelligent energy management solutions. The solutions are scheduled to be deployed from 2026, with the projects being entirely delivered by 2029 at the latest. Engie will operate and maintain the infrastructures.

Engie and Airbus have collaborated since the 1980s in France. In 2024, the energy company commissioned a 20 MW biomass heating plant in Toulouse and plans to build a similar 8 MW facility in Nantes. Engie currently works with 160 industrial sites belonging to various clients across Europe and aims to increase this number to 250 by 2030.
