Climate change: acceleration of human-induced climate change (IPCC 2025 update)

In a stark reminder of the escalating climate crisis, a new update from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) highlights a sharp increase in human-induced global warming and associated environmental changes.

The analysis, published on 19/06/2025, compiles the most recent climate monitoring datasets to provide updated figures on key climate indicators. The IPCC's latest update includes refreshed estimates for a broad range of climate variables: net greenhouse gas emissions, atmospheric concentrations, radiative forcing, global energy imbalance, surface temperature changes, and the remaining carbon budget. For the first time, the report also incorporates updated data on sea-level rise and land precipitation changes.

“Human activities are increasing the Earth’s energy imbalance and driving faster sea-level rise compared to the AR6 assessment,” the report states.
