SAF: 500,000 tonnes produced per year by TotalEnergies from 2028 onwards

Half a million tonnes a year: that's the volume of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) that TotalEnergies plans to be able to produce from 2028, the company announced on 16/06/2025. This amounts to more than 10% of the jet fuel volumes it will market in Europe. To achieve this goal, TotalEnergies is rolling out a number of initiatives:

• the Group is transforming its Grandpuits site (Paris region) into a zero-oil platform, including a biorefinery with a capacity of 230,000 tonnes/year of SAF, scheduled to come on stream in 2026. Investment: €500m.
• At La Mède (Bouches-du-Rhône, South of France), TotalEnergies will produce 15,000 tonnes/year of SAF from 2025, to supply airports in the southern region.
• At the Normandie refinery (Seine-Maritime), SAF production has begun via coprocessing, a process involving the simultaneous processing of fossil fuels and biomass in a conventional unit. Capacity: 160,000 tonnes/year.
• At the Antwerp refinery (Belgium), a 50,000 tonnes/year co-processing project will be launched in 2025, with a planned ramp-up to 80,000 tonnes/year.
