Solar: 9 477 tons of used PV panels collected by Soren in France in 2024, +80% compared to 2023

Soren, a French state-approved eco-organism in charge of collecting and processing end-of-life photovoltaic panels, reported on 12/06/2025 that it collected 9 477 tons of used PV panels in 2024. This marks an 80% increase from 2023 (5 207 tons). "This sharp rise reflects the growing maturity of the sector and greater awareness among waste holders", Soren stated.

The organisation manages PV panel recycling in partnership with five treatment centers. At Soren's launch in 2014, it collected 366 tons of used PV panels — 92.5% of which came from on-site collection — and had 103 drop-off points and 109 member producers. Today, Soren counts 549 members and its network expanded to 319 drop-off points.

According to Soren, 17 M panels (equivalent to 382,000 tons) were placed on the market in 2024, compared to 2.8 M in 2015. In April 2025, Soren launched "Soren Boost", a national call for proposals aimed at accelerating impactful environmental innovations in the solar sector.
