France : partnership renewal between GRDF and Inrae to accelerate the development of green gas

GRDF (a French gas distribution network operator) and Inrae (a French public agronomic research institute) are stepping up their cooperation by renewing their partnership agreement to accelerate the production of green gas in France, "while supporting local and regional authorities in their transition over the long term and making the most of energy produced in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly way", both companies announced on 10/06/2025. The agreement was initially signed in 2018 and had already been renewed for 2020-2024.

"With GRDF, we are pursuing a shared ambition: to improve methanisation processes and their integration into agricultural systems. This agreement embodies our commitment to supporting the development of sustainable energy to help the climate, farmers and local communities," says Philippe Mauguin, Chairman and CEO of Inrae.

The renewal of the agreement is a continuation of work already underway and is in line with Inrae's major scientific orientations, particularly in the areas of bioeconomy, agro-ecological transition and resource management.
