EU : adoption of the European Water Resilience Strategy, a roadmap towards a sustainable water-economy

The European Commission adopts the European Water Resilience Strategy, it announces on 04/06/2025.

"Water is life. Water resilience is key for our citizens, farmers, environment, and businesses. The Commission's Water Resilience Strategy charts a path toward a sustainable, resilient, smart, and competitive water-economy. We must act now to protect this scarce resource", says Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, in Brussels, the 04/06/2025.

From December 2025, the Commission will organise a Water Resilience Forum every two years. This will bring together stakeholders and interested parties to keep track of the progress made in improving water resilience at all levels of government, in businesses and in the civil society, and to monitor the implementation of this strategy.

In 2027, the Commission will carry out a mid-term review of the progress made in implementing over 30 actions included in this strategy.
