Marine Renewable Energies : deployment of the Seaturns wave-powered demonstrator

Deploying a full-scale wave energy conversion demonstrator at the SEM-REV offshore testing site off Le Croisic (France / Loire-Atlantique) is the aim of the agreement signed by Seaturns, a Bordeaux-based start-up developing a technology for producing electricity from wave energy and the Open-C Foundation, an organisation dedicated to floating wind turbines and Maritime Renewable Energies, on 10/06/2025.

This agreement sets out the operational framework for the deployment, operation and dismantling of the demonstrator. The demonstrator is due to be installed "in the summer of 2025" and will remain on site for 18 months. The energy produced during these tests will be dissipated: "This initial phase will enable to validate the system's reliability, certify its power generation performance and assess its environmental impact. The results obtained will form an essential basis for scaling up to commercial production", say the partners.
